Job Details

POLITICO is looking for an assistant policy editor to be based in Brussels.

Working closely with the Tech team and other editors, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the high quality of POLITICO’s tech policy coverage.

The post is a busy, hands-on editing job that entails editing POLITICO’s flagship subscription products and working on impactful stories at the intersection of tech policy and politics for POLITICO’s general audience.

The tech coverage dives deep into one of the most sensitive and high-profile global policy issues of our time, spanning the contentious debate around 5G rollout, the battle between major players for tech dominance, complex policy initiatives pitting EU countries against the U.S. or China and how to rein in Big Tech’s unprecedented access to citizens’ data.

The work will involve close collaboration with the rest of the editing crew, with an ability to jump on other policy and political stories.

The post requires a team player, eager to work with junior and seasoned reporters alike, and able to coordinate with teams in Brussels, Europe and the U.S.

The successful candidate will have sharp, hands-on editing skills, an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent
  • At least three years’ newsroom and/or editing experience
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Fluency in other European languages and a good understanding of EU policy making a strong plus

Equal Opportunity:

It is POLITICO's policy to provide equal employment opportunity to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age or any other characteristic protected by local laws and regulations.
