We are looking for an aspiring journalist with the persistence and the enthusiasm to cover the world's second largest economy and new major power to take the job of researcher in The Wall Street Journal's China bureau.

You will be a key player on a team covering all the topics important to understanding China today -- from large innovative tech companies to slowing economic growth, high-level political maneuverings, climbing debt and geopolitical ructions.

You will work with editors and other reporters to develop stories, track down sources for interviews and dive into documents for in-depth investigations.

You will need to show that you have the determination to dig for the deeper story. A thick skin and the inability to take "no" for an answer are crucial, as are a nimble mind able to jump across a range of stories and the temperament for teamwork.

You must be fluent in Chinese and able to write clearly in English.

The job is based in Beijing and reports to the China bureau chief.
