Overview

Our new Digital Audience Development Manager will help grow the ITV News digital audience and lead on SEO strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Digital, you’ll spend much of your time collaborating with the ITV News regions and nations, working closely with ITV’s data teams and senior regional and national editorial leaders to find ways to promote and increase the engagement of our UK audiences across all platforms in new and exciting ways.

The ideal candidate will have newsroom experience and a proven track record for increasing followers, engagement and traffic on digital platforms, with a particular focus on young audiences.

As well as understanding the commercial risks and opportunities associated with audience growth, we’re looking for someone with a broad understanding of Google’s news algorithm, Google Analytics and the key factors which may impact visibility in news search results.

You’ll have the ability to successfully pitch data driven editorial ideas and a proven knowledge to optimise editorial content for news or digital publishing sites.

We are looking for a team player with strong communication skills and expert skills in this field who can use SEO data to develop best editorial practices, prepare reports and guidelines, and actionable insights across all ITV News newsrooms.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead SEO strategy, collaborating with editorial and ITV data teams to create audience growth in news
  • Partner with multiple teams to coordinate and improve ITV News's audience development and SEO strategy by working on editorial calendars
  • Communicate best practices for distribution, discovery and optimisation of stories
  • Grow the ITV News audiences across platforms
  • Create increased awareness of ITV News content and regular viewers across platforms
  • Increase time spent on the ITV News website and reduce bounce rate
  • Maintain ownership of the SEO strategy and its ongoing development.
  • Develop relationships with editors across the regions

Qualifications:

  • An understanding of the commercial risks and opportunities associated with audience growth
  • Proven track record for increasing followers, engagement and traffic, with a particular focus on young audiences
  • A broad understanding of Google’s news algorithm and the key factors which may impact visibility in news search results
  • Experience using Google Analytics and associated tools
  • Strong competence in preparing reports, data insights and SEO guidelines
  • Expert knowledge of trends and tools for social media platforms
  • Experience of working in a dynamic fast-paced media environment
  • Experience strategising and developing ideas for longer form content
