Job Details

Are you an experienced people manager with a background in digital and print business and finance publishing?

My client is a highly successful and well established publisher of print and online news and intelligence on the global utilities industry, they have a large global team and are looking for an experienced editorial professional to manage the flow of news and analysis, help train reporters and develop their online offering so it’s more representative of their subscriber needs and gives the potential to create new channels.

It is essential that you have excellent people management skills and have the ability train junior staff to produce high quality news and analysis.

Because this publication is subscription based there is less of a focus on SEO and more on quality and accuracy of the content, as managing editor it will be your job to get the editorial team working to their optimum, ensuring there is co-operation between staff on sister publications and the team as a whole is more focused on building the online presence of the publication.

My client is also looking to the managing editor to help co-ordinate the ongoing development of the publication, along with marketing and other departments, to find ways of exploiting the resources available to grow new channels and build subscriptions.

This is in many ways a strategic development role so it’s important that you have a solid understanding of how to make publications work in the digital age for a subscriber audience.

If you are not based in Oxford (but based in the UK) and happy to relocate, my client is willing to help with the cost of moving.
