Job Details

REFI Europe, a publication of Pageant Media, is seeking a reporter to cover European real estate private equity funds.

While familiarity with the commercial real estate market or financial journalism experience is a plus, what’s more important is enthusiasm for a role that combines traditional reporting with a more analytical and visual approach to putting together stories.

Based in our London office near St Paul’s, you’ll be part of a team that works closely with colleagues in New York and Cardiff to produce short- and long-form content.

A typical day will include interviewing sources, writing one to two stories, helping to assemble a daily email and using our proprietary databases to identify and execute on analytical pieces.

Visiting and covering real estate events and conferences, primarily in London, as well as building contacts and long-term relationships within the sector, are also important elements of this role.

Our publication is targeted toward senior executives at the most prominent real estate private equity funds and up-and-coming players in this exciting global industry.

Requirements

  • A proven ability to break exclusive news and write compelling and insightful analysis
  • Keen analytical and feature writing abilities
  • An understanding of the real estate sector, or at least decent financial/business reporting experience preferred
  • Excellent networking skills and a track record of developing useful contacts and sources
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills

Responsibilities

  • Write daily news articles and break stories
  • Pitch and work on well-researched analytical pieces with minimal supervision
  • Work with the editorial and production teams on the newsletter
  • Regularly interview and profile relevant industry experts
  • Build a large contact book
  • Attend relevant conferences

Requirements

  • Degree in journalism or a related field
  • Ideally some experience of working in a newsroom, preferably covering financial news
  • Proficient in working with social media, data and content management systems
  • Excellent communication skills, journalism ethics, multi-tasking and strong time management skills in a deadline-driven environment are a must

The Benefits

  • Excellent uncapped bonus structure
  • Season Ticket loan
  • Free breakfast
  • Birthday day off
  • 24 days holidays increasing up to 29 days
  • Independent company with established brands
  • Friendly experienced team
  • Global offices
  • Regular on-going incentives
  • On-going training and career development
