The Assistant Editor (Features) will report directly into the Editor and is a key member of an extremely busy team.

The successful candidate will also work very closely with the Digital Content Director to deliver high quality online content.

The role will oversee the magazine's features team and lifestyle section, efficiently running the department. We are looking for an experienced, creative writer and editor with an excellent knowledge of the celebrity market and great relationships with celebrity agents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day management of the features team and features section, which includes celebrity interviews, recipes, Vintage and Icons pages, and daily online features.
• Liaise with PRs and agents to secure exclusive print and online shoots and interviews.
• Generate topical, multi-platform features ideas so that OK! continues to break showbiz exclusives, online and in print.
• Brief writers, edit copy and give constructive feedback for rewrites.
• Write features and conduct celebrity interviews, including cover interviews.
• Proofread and sign off pages, ensuring all legal issues are dealt with.
• Negotiate fees with agents and work with the legal department to devise contracts for exclusive deals.
• Keep abreast of celebrity events and organise writers to attend.
• Represent the magazine at high-profile events, including weddings and red carpet events.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Prior experience of working at a senior level at a national magazine/newspaper.
• An excellent knowledge of UK and US celebrities and TV is essential.
• Sound legal knowledge.
• Proven ability to write excellent copy and break exclusives.
• Creative and the ability to write rapidly and accurate.
• Flexible attitude to work
