Shortlist.com are looking for a staff writer who has a passion for digital and a deep interest in some, or all, of the following areas: lifestyle, technology, entertainment, food & drink and style.

You will be familiar with writing online copy, have an understanding of SEO and can spot emerging trends – as well as being adept at writing about, and reviewing, the latest products and creating compelling 'shortlists' for the site.

You will be expected to manage the flow of content in your particular section, including regular updates to core articles at the heart of Shortlist.com and, most importantly, care about the products you write about.

To do this, we need someone with brilliant time-management and organisational skills, who has a flair for writing and will be able to adapt quickly to the speed of online journalism.

Overall Objectives:

  • Writing fantastic shortlists, in-depth reviews and to-the-point news articles.
  • Understanding and implementing SEO strategies for what you write.
  • Finding new trends and writing about them before anyone else.
  • Becoming an ambassador for your section of Shortlist.com.
  • Finding the best products for the articles you write and liaising with the ecomm team to make sure they are right from an affiliates point of view.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong organizational skills and good attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment that will require a certain flexibility.
  • Excellent verbal and written English and first-class communication skills.
  • A passion for everything from tech to lifestyle.
  • A history of brilliant online writing.
  • A knowledge of SEO and how to use this to improve your articles.
  • A good relationship with PRs.
