Job Details

POLITICO is looking for an experienced journalist to cover key moments in U.K. health care as Britain exits the European Union, including the transition of the European Medicines Agency from London to Amsterdam, debates on drug prices and how the U.K.’s health care policy and regulatory environment will evolve after Brexit.

The job entails writing breaking news items, occasionally anchoring our flagship Morning Health Care newsletter as well as writing in-depth pieces at the intersection of policy and politics.

This job would be based in London and involve producing content for a sophisticated international readership on POLITICO.eu and for our Pro subscription news service.

The position would offer a six-month to a year contract starting in September, with the possibility of an extension.

Qualifications

Several years of journalism experience, including at least some experience covering policy, health care, pharmaceuticals and/or science.

Strong English-language writing skills are critical, as is the ability to work under pressure and on deadline. Knowledge of other European languages is a plus.

The writer must be a self-starter who communicates well with colleagues working around the rest of the Continent.

Equal Opportunity

It is POLITICO's policy to provide equal employment opportunity to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age or any other characteristic protected by local laws and regulations.

Since its launch in 2007, POLITICO has delivered journalism about politics and policy making that is more authoritative in its sophistication and nonpartisan perspective than any competitor; that is more useful to people with a professional interest in public affairs; and that is more fun to read for a community of people who love the drama and sheer sport of politics.

The central mission of POLITICO, from birth to our current period of growth, has been to help sustain and vastly expand nonpartisan political and policy journalism.

We all believe informing readers and holding leaders accountable is and will forever be essential to smart governance, regardless of shifts in technology and consumption habits.
