Job Details

City A.M. is seeking to hire a night editor to join its news team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a business journalist to step up to a senior editorial role at London's leading financial newspaper.

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and be able to operate quickly under time pressure, while managing a small but crucial news operation that runs until 00.30am. Shifts start at 4pm, Sunday to Thursday.

This is an old-school newspaper job so candidates need to be good with a flat-plan, or at least willing and able to pick up this skill quickly.

The successful candidate will have an exceptionally sharp news sense and the confidence to handle big late-breaking news. Candidates must have a strong understanding of London’s financial sector and sharp editorial judgement regarding which stories to prioritise.

They must possess extremely high levels of literacy and numeracy.

The candidate must be able to guide reporters and improve their copy. The role requires, but is not limited to, core subbing skills. The Night Editor must be able to spot and correct errors, and write sharp, accurate and punchy headlines.

Apply by completing the application form below with a CV, covering letter, and 100 words explaining what you think is the most important business story of the last six months (excluding Brexit) – by noon on Wednesday 26 June 2019. Please state your salary expectations.
