Job Details

The Wall Street Journal is looking for audience interaction producers who will lead the Journal in creating multi-media audience conversations.

These specialists should care deeply about journalism as well as giving the public and our members a voice.

The Journal seeks to be an industry leader in how we engage with our audience and in featuring audience points of view.

Part of leading the charge will be to create new ways to integrate audio and video into our interactive tools, partnering with existing successful text-based platforms like comments.

This is an opportunity to be involved in something with high levels of out-of-the-box thinking and to train and inspire people around the newsroom to be a part of it.

These producers are part of a new audience voice team within the Journal's strategy unit, which is an incubator for new technologies, audience growth, community and news innovation.

The department includes the full range of journalistic talent that makes the Journal one of the leading news organizations in the world -- writers, video journalists, graphics designers, editors, product managers, engineers, designers, data scientists, artificial intelligence experts and more -- in a lively, collaborative project to discover new offerings of journalistic value.

In addition to developing and running real-time audience interaction experiences, these producers will produce audio or video packages from these experiences or write stories related to them.

The ideal candidates will be comfortable making objective decisions quickly about whether contributions by audience members meet guidelines for inclusion on our site or off-platform. They will deploy strategies to drive deeper engagement with members, as well as help create content from audience submissions.

Candidates should be comfortable interacting directly with the audience as a representative of The Wall Street Journal.

This position will involve editorial decision-making on featuring the most thoughtful audience contributions, helping editors and reporters develop prompts, finding relevant reader questions, tips and story ideas, as well as producing innovative content from these experiences.

There are two roles being offered. This listing is for evening and weekend hours. (The other listing is for regular workday hours.)
