British GQ is looking for an enthusiastic Social Media Assistant to join the team on a 1 year fixed term contract.

The candidate will help contribute to the running of our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels which have a combined following of over 1 million.

As part of the digital team, you will work in partnership with the Social Media Editor.

You will also contribute to informing our readers about new stories, track trending subjects, help develop and plan our social media posts in conjunction with the GQ editorial team, and help produce and edit short video clips for posting on our channels.

You will attend and help cover GQ events throughout the year (including Men of the Year, GQ Heroes, the GQ Food and Drink Awards, the Car Awards, the Grooming Awards) plus dozens of other events and productions. 

You are a regular reader of British GQ and follower of our social media channels, and are familiar with our focus on intelligent fashion and style coverage, broad and exclusive entertainment coverage and incisive political commentary.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Informing readers about new stories, tracking trending subjects and planning our social media posts.
  • Finding relevant GQ stories and putting them in front of as large an audience as possible.
  • Producing and editing short video clips for posting on social media.
  • Writing stories.


Essential Skills & Requirements:

  • A passion for GQ subjects (style, watches, grooming, culture, politics).
  • Regular reader of British GQ and follower of our social media channels.
  • Experience of editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere).
  • Familiarity with content management systems.
  • Understanding of SEO and how people use search engines and social media.
  • Strong writer and editor.
