Are you an experienced editor looking for an autonomous Managing Editor role?  An established professional body based in central London has an opening for a Managing Editor to take responsibility for the management of the editorial process of the society’s magazine and supplements from planning and commissioning content to sub-editing and overseeing production.

Managing Editor Key duties:

  • Plan and schedule content for monthly magazine and quarterly supplements
  • Oversee the editorial production of publications, managing approval and sign-off process
  • Research and commission articles, liaising with authors, journalists and editorial boards
  • Sub-edit and proof copy, ensuring high quality of content and that it meets members’ needs
  • Manage online content
  • Work closely with contract publisher to ensure timely production

Managing Editor Experience / skills required:

  • Experience in an editorial role overseeing the publication of a B2B magazine/trade journal is required
  • Experience planning and commissioning content
  • Excellent sub-editing, writing and researching skills
  • Strong time-management and organisation with a proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Experience dealing with authors, journalists and PR agencies
  • A background in a legal/financial publishing or in a membership body would be a bonus
