The role:

H2O Publishing is searching for a passionate B2B editor to hit the ground running on a leading trade publication, as well as other products/projects within the company.

The editor will be expected to document industry-leading catering options, as well as food and nutrition trends, legislation and anything else that comes out of kitchens across the UK.

You will be responsible for researching and writing core content, which will vary from exclusive interviews, focuses on food, drink and new projects, to trends and catering equipment.

As well as this, you will be expected to commission freelancers and proofreaders, and constantly monitor relevant industries across the UK, reflecting your knowledge and findings within your writing across print and digital platforms.

You will be in regular contact with industry operators, associations, PRs and suppliers, establishing and continuing the vital relationships needed to create polished content for the title, as well as enhancing trade events and competitions run by H2O Publishing.

You will be expected to contribute daily news stories to magazine websites, while keeping Twitter and Instagram activity targeted, engaging and updated.

As well as delivering fresh-thinking content and ideas that meet the strategy of the editorial director, you should be willing to regularly attend evening events and industry launches. These are predominantly based in London, but you will be encouraged to travel the country and even abroad on occasions. These are just a couple of perks to the role.

The person:

H2O Publishing is looking for a proactive, motivated and enthusiastic individual to its team.

The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative and drive, as well as enjoyment in being part of a friendly team. You should be comfortable working independently and leading freelancers/budgets, as well as being ready to take instruction when necessary.

The ideal candidate should have experience in writing for/editing a trade publication within the catering industry, as well as holding an NCTJ or relevant journalism qualification. Previous work in trade events and awards would also be favourable.

You should have experience in (but not limited to):

  • Writing/editing for B2B magazines and websites
  • InDesign and the Adobe Cloud package
  • Microsoft Office
  • Website management
  • Social media operations and approach
  • Flawless social skills when liaising with readers, clients and PRs
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Capability to work alone with instruction from the editorial director
  • Strong passion for the food, drink and catering industries
  • Proofreading
  • Attending press conferences and events in order to generate content
  • Developing a network of contacts
  • Assisting at trade events
