The Grocer, Shopping / Retail Reporter - 12 Month Maternity Cover

The Grocer is the UK’s biggest and most interesting business magazine, and we’re looking for a talented, enthusiastic, bright and ambitious reporter to help us break major stories about the huge, fascinating, colourful and fast-changing grocery retail sector.

The Grocer prides itself on breaking news and has won countless awards for its campaigning and investigative approach.

You’ll be expected to engage in and uncover stories around how a host of grocery retailers (big and small) are adapting (or not) to the challenges and opportunities, including Brexit (of course), online retail, the death of the high street, inflation, crime, technology, food waste, the environment, social media, veganism, product innovation etc etc.

In doing so you might be (for example) examining strategy and performance, pricing and promos, in-store marketing and merchandising, customer service, supply chain, ecommerce, technology, store design, property and planning, and many more.

This role will encompass a range of different responsibilities, but it starts with great journalism, landing exclusive news stories, writing in depth analysis, features, reports, profiles, blogs and video/audio content, across a range of topics.
