BBC Science Focus magazine is looking for a new editorial assistant.

We’re searching for someone who can help us tell the world how incredible science is. The ideal candidate will be someone who loves science and tech, and who’s passionate about creating compelling journalism.

This isn’t an editorial assistant role where you’ll be making the tea. We want you to hit the ground running, writing news stories and getting scientists to give us their views on the issues that matter.

On top of that, you’ll be taking responsibility for the Radar section of the magazine – the tech and culture pages. This means you’ll have to cultivate a healthy contact book to keep the magazine and its readers ahead of the curve.

We’ll expect you to write and commission content for these pages, and consider how it can work best in print and online.

There’s also plenty of writing to be done across the magazine and online, which will need you to take tricky concepts and explain them with clear, lively copy.

Ultimately, we want someone full of energy and ideas who’s motivated enough to kick-start their own projects in the future.
