Responsibilities:

Joining the IBC Editorial team, the Deputy Editor will provide dedicated focus on developing IBC’s content across the organisation’s editorial products.

The Deputy Editor will manage the day-to-day editorial operations of IBC365, working closely with the Editor to commission and edit freelance editorial content and write news and features.

They will also play a key role in ensuring content reaches the widest possible audience via digital and social channels.

Tasks:

  • Commission features, interviews and thought leadership articles for IBC365
  • Edit content, ensuring IBC’s high editorial standards are maintained
  • Ensure content is optimised for online and social
  • Write news and features about the media, entertainment and technology industry
  • Oversee delivery and development of IBC365 newsletters
  • Work with the commercial team on editorial elements of commercial content
  •  Provide editorial support for IBC Daily in the run up to and during the IBC show in September
  • Work with external suppliers, oversee delivery of year-round audio-visual content
  • Oversee the output of the Staff Writer
  • Work with the Digital Editorial Assistant on layout and design of online content
  • Ensure work and content align with the editorial content plan and contribute to the development of IBC’s editorial strategy
  • Work with the Event Content team to ensure messages and themes are reflected in IBC365 coverage
  • Liaise with the Marketing team to ensure timely promotion of content
  • Keep up to date with the fast-paced media, entertainment and technology, as well as adjacent, industries


Person specification:

The role requires an individual with strong editorial experience, ideally in a busy, news-oriented digital environment with the ability to commission and create compelling online content. The role would suit an experienced reporter looking to take on a senior role.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years editorial experience
  • Desirable
  • Experience working in/reporting on the media, entertainment and technology industry
  •  Interest in the relevant industries


Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading skills and a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient user of MS Office, InDesign, CMS platforms and/or other publishing tools
  • Proven editorial skillset with the ability to help contributors
  • Understanding of SEO and social media best practices
  • Familiar with Google Analytics
  • Experience establishing and maintaining contacts at senior level
  • Excellent organisational skills, with strong project management and the ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently to multiple deadlines and under pressure
  • Commercial awareness and capability
  • Be able to spot trends within the industries and adjacent emerging markets
  • Willingness to travel (international and domestic) on behalf of IBC
