The Grocer, Features Writer / Senior Features Writer
The Grocer is no ordinary business magazine.
As the award-winning bible of the food and drink industry, we tackle important topics such as health and obesity, online shopping, advertising and marketing, climate change, price wars, entrepreneurship, innovation, the high street, tobacco legislation, the Stock Market, ethical trade, the economy and, of course, Brexit.
So how can you help? We don’t want to be too specific about the job title. What’s important is that we find someone who loves and ‘gets’ features, and has the necessary wide-ranging skillset and work ethic to help us deliver fantastic features on a wide variety of topics. So we are prepared to be flexible, and the job title (and salary) would be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience.
A love of food and drink, and knowledge of/interest in retail, supermarkets, advertising, etc., are not essential; what’s non negotiable is intelligence, curiosity, versatility, an organized mind and appetite for hard work; great writing skills and a love of features; and a willingness to learn.
Standards are very high, but for the right candidate, working on a busy and vibrant title, it offers huge job satisfaction, as well as a competitive salary and other benefits, the chance to work with a large team of award-winning journalists on an innovative and progressive publication, and with lots of training and career development opportunities.
The Grocer is the flagship of the highly successful William Reed Business Media group, a family-owned publishing, events and market research business, whose interests include operations in the UK, the US and France.
We’re based near Crawley, 30 minutes from Brighton and 10 mins from Gatwick and its connections to Victoria, London Bridge, and the world (recent foreign travel assignments have included cocoa growers in India, a New York retail conference, Caribbean rum production and awards judging in Paris).
