The Wall Street Journal is a global news organization that provides leading news, information, commentary and analysis. The Wall Street Journal engages readers across print, digital, mobile, social, and video.

Building on its heritage as the preeminent source of global business and financial news, the Journal includes coverage of U.S. and world news, politics, arts, culture, lifestyle, sports, and health. It holds 36 Pulitzer Prizes for outstanding journalism.

The Wall Street Journal is published by Dow Jones, a division of News Corp (NASDAQ: NWS, NWSA; ASX: NWS, NWSLV).

The Wall Street Journal's Washington bureau is seeking a staff reporter to join its national security group and become part of the country's premier team covering intelligence, defense and foreign policy.

Specifically, we need a reporter who knows and understands the U.S. intelligence apparatus -- the various agencies, congressional committees, and outside firms and think tanks, and the issues and threats they address.

This reporter should be well versed in cybersecurity and international hacking; domestic and foreign surveillance matters; and the ongoing investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Ideally, this reporter will be able to learn what agencies like the CIA and NSA are doing operationally, as well as how the agencies assess current situations and global news events.

He or she should be able to tap a source network that can provide the tictoc of key decisions and events. And, of course, the best candidates will be able to deftly convert government and bureaucratic jargon into enticing prose and to clue readers about the forces of politics (this being Washington) at play beneath the surface.

The key to our success has always been teamwork, and any new team member will be welcomed by a staff eager for a hard-charging partner on the spy beat.
