Job Details

MailOnline is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Sport Social Media to join our dynamic team in London. As the Head of Sport Social Media, you will be responsible for overseeing the social media strategy for MailOnline's sports coverage across all platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy for sports coverage that aligns with MailOnline's overall social media strategy.
  • Manage a team of social media editors and writers, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality content and engagement on social media platforms.
  • Create and execute social media campaigns to promote sports content, including live events, breaking news, and exclusive interviews.
  • Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize content and engagement on all platforms.
  • Lead MailOnline Sport’s expansion into improving our social video presence
  • Work closely with the editorial team to ensure that content is optimised for social media and that social media platforms are utilized to their full potential.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including sports teams, leagues, and sponsors, to develop and execute social media campaigns and partnerships.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and emerging social media trends to ensure that MailOnline remains at the forefront of social media innovation.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in social media management, preferably in a sports media environment.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their respective audiences, as well as social media analytics and monitoring tools.
  • Proven experience managing a team of social media editors and writers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for sports and a deep understanding of the sports media landscape.
