Audio Producer, Podcast (Contract Role)
Barron's Group is seeking a creative and driven Audio Producer who is well versed in finance, business, and economics reporting to produce our weekly Best New Ideas in Money podcast from Marketwatch.
A strong candidate is a vivid storyteller with solid audio production skills and is fluent in building episodes with multiple tracks and audio scoring as well as experience in structuring and writing compelling scripts. The ideal candidate also has a strong understanding and interest in finance, business, and economics that can be translated into fascinating episode ideas for the podcast.
We're looking for a contractor from June 30, 2022 to July 1, 2023 to join our New York-based team.
Responsibilities:
Produce full episodes from start to finish, including researching, pitching ideas, booking guests, writing scripts, fact checking, cutting tape, finding archival news clips, assembling mixes, and score episodes
Schedule recordings with podcast hosts
Record and direct host recordings either remotely or in studio
Assist the Senior Producer in maintaining the production schedule, including scheduling meetings, interviews and recording sessions
Attend Marketwatch editorial meetings to gather ideas and work with Marketwatch editorial staff on crafting stories
Occasionally assist on production needs across our other podcasts
Work on growing audiences and promotion efforts
Key candidate requirements:
3-5 years of experience working in audio production
The ability and flexibility to work in a fast paced, changing environment
Professional-level understanding of podcast editing software
Strong writing skills and experience in building podcast episodes
Ability to juggle multiple tasks, problem solve, and execute against deadlines
Interest and knowledge in business, finance, and economics
