Deputy Digital Editor – RED

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will work with the Digital Editor to develop and implement an online content strategy for the lifestyle title. This role will support running the site day to day, focussed on growing traffic and e-commerce revenue through news and SEO. You will work with multiple stakeholders to support the Digital Editor with the e-commerce strategy. The role will also help manage all social media channels and help with the newsletter strategy to grow traffic and subscribers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will create best-in-class content that drives digital reach and engagement of our target audience, balancing both editorial excellence and revenue generation with a focus on Fashion, Beauty, and Interiors. 
  • Write, commission and edit content for Red’s website, ensuring consistent tone.
  • Support the Digital Editor in developing and executing an engaging newsletter strategy that drives traffic and encourages new sign-ups.
  • Work with the Central E-commerce team and the Hearst Institute to help develop an e-commerce strategy, growing affiliate revenue.
  • Help collaborate on an SEO strategy with the SEO team, growing traffic across all key pillars.
  • Work with key stakeholders in Hearst Lifestyle hub to ensure appropriate content is repurposed for digital with search and e-commerce in mind.
  • Use analytics tools and data to adjust, mould and accelerate Red’s strategy, helping to ensure monthly targets are met.
  • Help ensure factual accuracy and legal safety of copy.
  • Forecast trends within a digital landscape that can support brand growth and audience development.
  • Take every opportunity to grow Red’s “known” audience data pool.

ABOUT YOU

  • A proven track record of working on a digital brand at a senior level. The ability to multi-task, remaining calm and professional under pressure.
  • A strong eye for data and content strategy, comfortable using Google Analytics and other insight tools to inform content and set targets.
  • A solid knowledge of both SEO and E-commerce, and how to build a strong search strategy that results in both traffic growth and revenue with the best possible UX.
  • An eye for numbers, comfortable managing budgets, tracking spend and understanding revenue break-downs.
  • A thorough understanding of social platforms ranging from Facebook to Instagram and Pinterest, and how to use them to grow brand.
