ABOUT THE ROLE

Good Housekeeping’s Junior Digital Writer will be a proactive, online journalist with a passion for food and homes. This role will involve writing for online as well as learning grow our social media channels. The role will work on the day to day running of GH’s site, helping the digital team to hit traffic, social and ecommerce targets. You will identify and write news and ecommerce content and also support the social media editor in the day-to-day execution of GH’s social strategy across all social media channels. This is an ideal job for a new talent looking for their first step in journalism, keen to develop as an multi-skilled digital journalist.

This role sits within the digital team and reports to the Social Media Manager with a dotted line into the deputy digital editor. This role will also work with central digital teams including SEO and ecommerce.

Key Responsibilities –

  • Work with the Social Media Editor to implement GH’s social media output across multiple platforms, ensuring the brand is an industry-leader in social content – with particular focus on food and household advice.
  • Learn to film and edit simple phone shot social media assets and adjust strategy based on data.
  • Source and write daily news stories relevant to goodhousekeeping.com/uk making contacts with key brands and contributing to the growth of GH’s traffic.
  • Support the assistant digital editor in the creation of ecommerce content, adhering to the brand’s ‘tried, tested and trusted’ philosophy.
  • Represent the brand, where appropriate, attending relevant events, including reader events, which may be in the evening.
  • Monitor analytics and trends reporting back to the digital team.
  • Be committed to creating diverse and inclusive content
  • You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.
     

ABOUT YOU

  • Some experience of working on a consumer website.
  • Good working knowledge of SEO.
  • Experience of uploading content online and use of social media.
  • Ability to generate and translate ideas and concepts into first class digital news stories.
  • Proven experience and talent for writing for web.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a team player.
  • Enthusiastic and with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • A genuine interest for the topics that goodhousekeeping.com/uk covers.
  • Some experience using Photoshop
