ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Lifestyle Digital Director, you will oversee and execute the brand’s newsletter strategy working with key stakeholders to plan, curate and build must-read newsletters covering topics including food, household and consumer advice, interiors, gardening, fashion, and beauty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan the strategy delivering must-read content that entices new and unknown readers to convert to newsletter subscribers and in doing so grow Good Housekeeping’s “known” audience data pool and thereafter driving frequency of return visitors.
  • Craft each newsletter ensuring it is brimming with news, features, recipes, and advice with surprises and treats that delight readers to ensure readers see a strong value exchange - their personal data for our rich content.
  • Execute the weekly curation and build of GH’s existing four newsletters and the launch of a 5th. Write and edit each newsletter with compelling headlines and sells, ensuring consistency and an on-brand tone.
  • Work with the Good Housekeeping Institute team to promote our latest tests. Develop strong relationships with GH’s key experts and elevating their expertise in the newsletter to create content our reader’s trust.
  • Work with the Central, Brand and GHI teams to develop an ecommerce strategy that drives revenues from Hearst own branded products, and services and from products through affiliate networks. A key focus will be sales around key seasonal highs such as Black Friday and Christmas and the launch and development of a new Shopping Newsletter always upholding GH’s key values of tried, tested, and trusted.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that any advertising and marketing inclusions reflect the Hearst policy in this area.
  • The role will involve a strong analytical approach to all key data and insight sources to support constant improvements against Key Performance Indicators. Forecast trends within the digital landscape that can support brand growth and audience development.
  • Ensure all content is honest, legal and decent at all times and that links are live at the time of publishing delivering the reader to the expected exit destination. Adhere to all GPDR regulations and always put the safety of the reader and Hearst security processes at the top of your content checklist.
  • You will be targeted against Subscriber Volumes, Opening Rates, CTRs, Frequency of Engagement from Returning Visitors and your support of Revenue Generation.
  • You will be expected to know your KPIs and reports against them frequently.
  • Key stakeholder management of all relationships listed above will be critical to the success of the candidate.
  • Be a proud ambassador of Hearst UK. Proactively support our drive to improve diversity and inclusion and take part in events that promote our Work Well Live Well policies.  Take on ad hoc project when requested.

ABOUT YOU

  • A proven track record of creating compelling digital content that drives acquisition, engagement, and frequency of returning visitors.
  • Strong knowledge of Newsletter key performance indicators and the use of data and insight that can be sourced to create sticky content.

  • A solid knowledge of both SEO and E-commerce, and how to build a strong search strategy that results in both traffic growth and revenue with the best possible UX.
  • The ability to multi-task, remaining calm and professional under pressure.
  • An eye for numbers, comfortable managing budgets, tracking spend and understanding revenue breakdowns.
