Beauty Director 

Stylist is looking for a brilliant and experienced Beauty Director to join its multi-award-winning editorial team. The perfect candidate will have an encyclopedic knowledge of beauty trends, a finger on the beauty pulse, ample experience of shoots, stellar PR and beauty expert contacts, strong commercial relationships and endless ideas about how to connect with women across our platforms.  

This role requires a driven beauty director with demonstrable relevant experience working in a busy, leading publishing environment, who can create standout beauty features for Stylist’s monthly magazine (plus digital and social content as required), ensuring that it is market leading, talked about and desirable for our audience and the advertisers wishing to reach them. As the most senior member of the beauty team the candidate will take responsibility for ensuring we secure exclusives and remain the absolute authority on beauty, reporting into the Assistant Editor.

 Key responsibilities   

• To plan and compile award-winning, relevant beauty content in the magazine, ensuring that we always feature the strongest, stand-out items from brands and that commercial clients are always considered.   
• To ideate, book and direct beauty shoots, recommending collaborators and securing sponsorship when required.   
• To generate unique, exclusive and exciting takes on beauty topics and take full responsibility for the beauty pages ensuring a thorough understanding of Stylist’s style and tone, and what makes our readers tick.  
• To manage the beauty desk, liaising with the production and art, final proofing pages and managing the beauty intern.   
• To ensure all relevant beauty trends are covered in clever and innovative formats, while staying abreast of all product and store launches, latest trends and collaborations.   
• To plan, create and evolve exciting new visual concepts to ensure Stylist’s beauty pages are executed in the best possible way.   
• To play a key ambassadorial role for Stylist, hosting events and appearing in multi-media content and acting as a resident beauty expert for the brand.   
• To attend all necessary press days, launches and commercial meetings, as well as shows and overseas press trips when required.   
• To strengthen and forge new industry contacts and relationships to elevate our reputation in the industry and tap into new revenue streams and partnership opportunities.
