This is an exciting role opportunity for an experienced E-commerce Editor with a good knowledge of the running market as well as best practice in generating affiliate revenue. E-commerce is a significant focus for Runner’s World and we are looking for a confident individual who can arrive with ideas, creative thinking and strategic acumen to make a positive impact on our business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Publishing accurate, authoritative, expert-verified e-commerce stories to the Runner’s World website on a daily basis.
  • Helping to oversee SEO e-commerce updates.
  • Building and maintaining a brand gear test planner – testing products yourself and overseeing the wider content team’s testing schedule.
  • Liaising with brand PRs to ensure receipt of gear test samples promptly on release.
  • Building, maintaining and updating targeted e-commerce galleries.
  • Ensuring all content is rigorously edited, of high quality, works well for search and social, and is also reflective of the brand’s values.
  • Working with members of the content team to ensure that online stories are optimised for e-commerce.
  • Leading planning and strategy for all key shopping periods, including (but not limited to) Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime Day, Christmas/winter sales, as well as being proactive in seeking out other pertinent opportunities.
  • Creating reports with key findings (trends, revenue, etc) for Digital Editor, Editor-in-Chief and the wider business.
  • Understanding what content performs well (and what doesn’t) by monitoring/analysing data, and helping to steer digital strategy accordingly.
  • Being a Runner’s World brand ambassador and upholding Hearst’s values.

You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.


  • You’ll have excellent knowledge of running products such as shoes, apparel, tech and sports nutrition, and know what separates a good product from an average one.
  • You will have an excellent command of the English language, plus a passion for good writing, combining substance, authority, economy and tone-of-voice.
  • You will have a background in writing for a running audience, along with experience of publishing online, including using CMS platforms.
  • You will have experience working with e-commerce content, preferably in the running and/or health and fitness arenas, and understand how to create content that is of high editorial quality while demonstrating sound commercial judgement.
  • You will a highly organised self-starter, preferably with experience in creating and managing editorial plans, both for new content and for updates.You will be familiar with Google Analytics and content management systems, plus have the ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets.
