Job Introduction

i is looking for an experienced graphics editor to join our growing newsroom.   

The successful candidate will join our production and design team, working across products and platforms to elevate and enhance our journalism. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious team at a key moment in i’s growth.  

Main Responsibilities

  • Creating eye-catching, dynamic graphics to enhance our news and features coverage 
  • Using statistics and data to help a story leap off the page and help the reader gain further depth and understanding of complex issues 
  • Pitching ideas to our news desks and section heads on how to enhance our coverage 
  • Working across print and digital, ensuring our graphics get the best possible display on all platforms 
  • Liaising with section heads, social and audience team, production, pictures and design 
  • Working with editors on special projects and in-depth coverage 

Person Specification

  •  A flair and passion for designing beautiful graphics that add value to a story 
  • Ability to represent complex data in an interesting, visual way that make them more tangible for our reader 
  • A strong interest in news and current affairs 
  • The ability to work quickly, creatively, and accurately under pressure, to tight deadlines 
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro, Figma or other design software 
  • At least three years' experience in a similar role at a daily title.  
  • Used to handling fast-moving projects and able to juggle competing demands 
  • Passion for the i project, and an appreciation of i's structure, style and ethos
