What We Are Looking For

As one of Canada's fastest-growing companies over the past two years, Upfeat Media is looking for a passionate, creative, and dedicated Senior Editor who is keen on becoming part of an industry-leading team. We are looking to hire an experienced Senior Editor who is an expert in commerce content, and who will be able to help us manage our growing content team.

Our commerce content comes in the form of shopping guides and category-based guides (travel, technology, fashion, etc), with the ultimate aim of helping people save money and find the best value while shopping online. The successful candidate will be expected to create, review and edit multiple pieces of content every week. The Senior Editor will ensure the quality, consistency, and clarity of the writing that appears on our portfolio of 20+ websites. Quality is key.

The ideal candidate should also have, on hand, a list of trusted and qualified freelance or part-time copywriters, to expedite quality content creation. Furthermore and more importantly, they will ensure that all content pieces are of the highest written quality, and also follow Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices and conform to Google’s User Experience Guidelines.

As a member of the Upfeat Media team, we are looking for someone who loves learning and experimenting with new ideas. We are also looking for someone who loves pushing themselves to achieve bigger and better things. We are a small company trying to do big things and every person counts.

The candidate may also be required to complete a small writing and editing sample for Upfeat Media, to confirm the writing and editing qualifications and style.

Please note, that while our head office is based in Canada, the Senior Editor role is remote.

Your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Editing well-researched commerce content and updating existing content to align with current shopping trends.
• Fulfilling briefs, hitting deadlines, and ensuring the writers meet content targets.
• Ensuring the content is error-free and reaches the specified word count. Taking guidance from the Managing Editor.
• Collaboratively working with other editors and writers.
• Helping to audit content on our portfolio of sites to ensure sites are accurate and up-to-date.
• Adhering to style guidelines related to the company and the client.
• Working closely with the SEO team to ensure content pages are optimized.

Qualities we are looking for:

• 5+ years of experience as an editor in a relevant field. Post-secondary education, Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Knowledge of SEO.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to write and/or edit content based on grammar, spelling, style, and substance, to the highest of standards.
