Recruiting for a junior sports politics reporter

A rare opportunity has arisen to work as a journalist for the world's leading independent Olympic news website, insidethegames.biz. The award-winning insidethegames.biz reaches the top decision-makers in the Olympic Movement, Paralympics, Commonwealth Sport, World University Games Movement, Continental Games, such as European, Pacific, Asian, African and Pan-Am Games, and key opinion-formers across the world.

We are looking for a reporter to help us ensure that our content reflects our reputation for world-class journalism and our profile as the world's leading Olympic news website. You will be capable of working quickly under extreme pressure as part of a small but dedicated team, have an unrivalled attention to detail, an eye for an outstanding and engaging news story and the ability to provide in-depth analysis and be informative. You will be expected to travel -- often abroad – regularly at short notice and work unsocial hours, including weekends, on a regular basis. However, the rewards are amazing.

You will regularly be setting the agenda in the international sports media as we cover the global stories that really matter. You will experience the thrill of seeing your work reach some of the most famous and important people in sport while knowing that you work for such a respected and well-regarded publication.

We are looking for a reporter who can match our ambition and who is hungry to be a part of a ground-breaking news team. As we are a vibrant young business with a small team, the opportunity to train and progress on the job will be significant. You will learn how to write news from award-winning Fleet Street sports journalist, Duncan Mackay.

It is essential that you live and breathe global sports news and current affairs and come into the office every morning bursting to chat about what’s going on in the world.

You will be based in the insidethegames.biz office in vibrant Central Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Some experience is preferred but we will consider outstanding self-starters. We also encourage applications from candidates who have not studied journalism.

Please send your current CV AND a separate covering letter explaining in no more than 300 words why you think you are capable of joining the world's top Olympic news website.

All applications should be submitted by Thursday 20th October 2022.
1st interviews week commencing Monday 24th October 2022.

Only applicants selected for an interview will be notified. Any applications without a covering letter will not be considered.

Salary: Up to £25k DOE + regular bonus based on performance and profits + regular pay rises.
Benefits: Full Vitality Private Healthcare, including full cancer cover, plus Life Assurance and Aviva Pension.

Please note, whilst we welcome applications from all nationalities, due to the nature of our editorial copy, the successful applicant will require an excellent command of both written and spoken English. This role is office-based, and our office is in the vibrant centre of Milton Keynes. Experience tells us that it is not possible to commute this role from London or the Midlands or to work remotely. We welcome your application and look forward to meeting you.
