Position Summary: 

The Copy Editor is responsible for performing and overseeing copy editing for multiple channels of the Digital Trends Media Group while actively supporting the Digital Trends Editorial and Commerce teams. This role requires strong attention to detail and time management to support multiple departments and stakeholders.  

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Quickly and efficiently copy edit commerce-related and editorial content to ensure accuracy in spelling, grammar, and composition 
  • Fact-check articles to ensure the accuracy of names, titles, dates, quotes, and other details 
  • The ability to work full shifts leading up to and during tentpole events like Black Friday/Cyber Monday and Amazon Prime Day, including on Thanksgiving Day
  • Communicate with writers and editors to convey new editorial standards and enforce their use 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Minimum of two years related experience 
  • Mastery of AP Style 
  • Strong knowledge of consumer tech and associated terminology
  • Familiarity with editing commerce-facing content 
  • Almost maddening attention to detail for reliably producing airtight copy 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to tactfully deliver feedback and criticism to peers and co-workers 
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate to meet deadlines 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced online news environment 
  • Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS systems 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required, preferably in Journalism, Communications or related fields 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines
