Social Video Producer
Newsweek - Remote, UK

Newsweek is looking to recruit a creative and energetic Social Video Producer to help grow our social media channels. The role is currently remote.

We are looking for someone who is eager to produce and edit short-form video content based on topics relevant to Newsweek audiences that can increase traffic and engagement across Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms. Videos will range from caught-on-camera moments to short explainers, interviews and features. This content creator must be a great storyteller and be familiar with all aspects of production, from pitching ideas to writing scripts and producing compelling videos for different social media platforms from beginning to end. The social video producer is well-versed in covering national and international trending news, including politics, but also has a passion for a variety of other topics including lifestyle, entertainment, TV and film. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable and flexible, self-motivated, organized and able to spot social content and edit multiple videos per day in a fast-paced environment under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pitch, write, edit and produce several social videos per day for our various social platforms — including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, often on a tight deadline
  • Find and ask permission for content found online
  • Produce and optimize all videos in various formats (square, Reels, wide) using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
  • React to breaking news stories as and when they happen
  • Identify trending and off-beat content that represents our brand
  • Coordinate with video, editorial and social media teams and managers to execute social video strategy
  • Manage multiple editing projects of different complexities successfully under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
  • Use storytelling skills to produce creative videos
  • Pitch ideas that will help build video views and increase engagement on social media

Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience producing and editing content for a digital publication and social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter
  • Proficient editing with Adobe Premiere and After Effects
  • Comfortable editing in different formats and codecs
  • Strong knowledge of trending news, politics and major current news events
  • Demonstrated experience producing social media first video content
  • Strong news judgment and awareness of Newsweek’s personality and brand
  • Ability to edit interviews and short explainers on a variety of topics
  • Must be able to work in a team as well as communicate and collaborate with multiple teams across platforms
  • Ability to maintain deadlines, work independently and under direction in a fast paced environment
  • Must be a self starter, organized, able to multitask, positive, creative and eager to contribute ideas
  • Able to understand the latest trends and data in social media creation
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including early morning, nights or weekends, if requested
  • Ability to create graphics using After Effects, Photoshop, etc. is a plus

If this sounds like you, please forward resume, cover letter and links to any available video work, with job title and your name in the subject line. Thank you.
