Ink – one of the world's leading travel media companies – is looking for a talented digital editor to lead on selamta.ethiopianairlines.com, the travel inspiration portal for Ethiopian airlines, and work across Ink’s other digital platforms.

 

The successful candidate will be a travel-loving digital native, who cares as much about site analytics as they do about powerful storytelling. They’ll be an expert on African cultures and destinations, with extensive real-world experience of countries including Ethiopia. They'll have a good eye for a powerful story and be able to write, edit and commission content and turn that into traffic-driving gold. With two years' experience working in digital publishing, they’ll be well-versed in SEO, social content, video and newsletters and be excited about taking Selamta to new audiences. This role offers great opportunities to travel.

Responsibilities

● Writing, editing and commissioning stories for Selamta: from destination pieces, narrative features, in-depth interviews and profiles to social posts, newsletter copy and advertorial content

● Creating a content strategy and monthly schedule. Uploading and optimising all stories in the CMS and overseeing social posts and newsletter content

● Managing stakeholder relationships and working closely with the client to ensure all their needs are met

● Monitoring site analytics to make sure monthly traffic targets are met

● Working with the Creative Solutions team to develop, hone and support on advertorial and commercial tie-ins

● Growing the Selamta audience on all digital platforms

 

Experience & Skills

● Highly skilled writer and editor who can turn around sparkling on brand copy and attention-grabbing headlines

● Excellent knowledge of African destinations and cultures and the wider travel sector

● Experience working with analytics programs such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs and other keyword tools

● Experience writing SEO-focused copy, social posts and newsletter content

● Experience using various CMSs and liaising with developers

● Excellent people skills

● Excellent time management and prioritisation

● A little black book of African travel contacts including trusted PRs and writers

 

Bonus

● Experience using viral story finding tools to identify trending content

● Experience shooting and editing video

 

Essentials

● Minimum two years' experience in digital publishing

● A calm, friendly can-do attitude

● Fluent English speaker (other languages a bonus!)
