With Intelligence is looking for a New York based news reporter to cover hedge fund activity for HFM, part of our global data-led business information platform.

HFM is a data-led business intelligence platform for investor relations teams and C-suite executives at hedge funds, a focal point of With Intelligence’s growing suite of business intelligence tools for the global fund management industry.

The Role 

The US editor will report to our global hedge funds editor in London, and work collaboratively with other asset class and investor editors to help deliver our editorial content plan.

As part of our team of 70 global asset management journalists across the globe, the US hedge funds team provides our subscribers with actionable market intelligence on fund activity and performance, from the development of new products and fund launches to significant capital raising, standout performance and key people moves.

The US editor will also work closely with our data, subscriptions, and events teams to help develop and showcase our proprietor database, educate them on market trends, and support events content including moderating panels and helping to host awards ceremonies where required.
 
The Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and mentor a team of three NY-based hedge fund journalists
• Help shape and direct areas of US hedge funds coverage within our editorial content plan
• Assign leads and edit copy and graphics for news stories, signals intelligence, and data analysis
• Develop a source network of US hedge fund professionals, investors and service providers
• Co-ordinate hedge funds coverage and copy flow with other regional editors
• Oversee weekly email newsletter
• Work closely and collaboratively with investment team editors and sales and events departments
• Act as an ambassador for the hedge funds brand in the US, including presenting and moderating panels at industry events

The Requirements

• Proven experience in covering financial news. 
• Asset management or hedge fund knowledge advantageous
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Good networking skills and a strong track record of developing useful contacts and sources
• Leadership skills. Management experience advantageous
• Ability to work collaboratively with other editors as well as sales and events teams
