Job Description:

Chemical Market Analytics is seeking a Principal Research Analyst with experience in propylene derivative markets which include oxo-alcohols /plasticizer, acrylic acid, acrylates, super absorbent polymer (SAP) and relative products. The position would be based in Beijing China.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Strategy development & execution- Convert previous experience, knowledge, insights, and analysis into sustainable, profitable chemical services/ solutions; actively pursue and develop unique analytical approaches that provide value to Chemical Market Analytics clients and/or potential clients. Formulate strategies to support business line goals for organic top line and bottom line growth in terms of new products, services, and solutions.
• Oversight of content, forecast methodology and quality
• Provide ongoing analysis of the Asia propylene derivatives (acrylic acid, acrylates, super absorbent polymer (SAP), oxo-alcohols and relative derivatives) markets for Chemical Market Analytics services.
• Respond to client questions and serve as a resource for client brainstorming/discussions.
• Provide regular and objective written inputs for monthly and annual analysis.
• Provide monthly market pricing inputs into the global database.
• Supply/Demand - maintain production capacity database, and supply-demand balance forms through entire product chains including annual L-forms, short forms and quarterly balances as needed.
• Work with the global team to ensure global product area consistency and continuity.
• Commercial management of the business- Nurture relationships with clients and deepen services as part of clients' commercial and strategic decision-making processes.
• Regional coordination with critical internal functions and other business lines.
• Engage functions, including Sales & Marketing, to facilitate business growth.
• Engage with other industry business lines and work flow business lines to leverage the Chemical Market Analytics total solution.
• Interface with global chemical industry organizations- Build and nourish relationships with key industry contacts that utilize or could benefit from Chemical Market Analytics services. Pursue face-to-face client industry contacts and speaking engagements to market Chemical Market Analytics capabilities.

COMPETENCIES:

• General chemical industry knowledge combined with propylene derivative product expertise.
• A conceptual understanding of how natural resources, political stability, and labor influence regional and global markets.
• Ability to think through questions and/or problems and independently provide solutions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ten or more year's chemical industry experience preferred. Commercial experience in sales, marketing, purchasing or planning is a plus. A Chemical Engineering or Chemical Materials degree is preferred. MBA a strong plus. Can cooperatively work across an organization at multi-levels to efficiently and effectively utilize the resources and knowledge base available in a team approach. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Confident to speak/present to global clients or any internal/external events. Confident to face challenges and requests from clients. Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
