As we continue to grow and diversify our content output we are seeking an Entertainment News Editor to join our dynamic and award-winning newsroom. This is an exciting time to join our team where no two days are the same. We deliver quality journalism and original content across all platforms to a global audience. We are dedicated to achieving global equality for LGBTQ+ people by informing, engaging and empowering our customers through award-winning content, live events and bespoke products and services.

 
Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working with our Head and Deputy Head of Editorial team to create, plan and execute daily entertainment news and features coverage for PinkNews
  • Managing a team of journalists to work on entertainment stories, break news and deliver exclusives
  • Editing content at speed, ensuring reporters’ copy is sharp, tight, readable, in keeping with house style and produced to the highest standard
  • Verifying information and checking facts to confirm story accuracy
  • Improving copy by identifying inconsistencies and errors, in both language and content
  • Liaising with other departments including production and audience to ensure best possible coverage for entertainment stories

Keys Skills and Experience:

  • NCTJ or equivalent journalism degree or demonstrable experience of editing and decision making on an entertainment or culture desk
  • Proven track record of seeking out exclusive and breaking stories, with a burgeoning contacts book relevant to entertainment and culture
  • Experience of planning coverage of future news events
  • Excellent news sense and judgement
  • Impeccable knowledge of media, copyright and libel law
  • An understanding of SEO best practices
  • A passion for LGBTQ+ content and a belief in equality for all

  

The Package:
