Social video producer

The social video producer role is a critical part of The Times and The Sunday Times digital content creation strategy, responsible for delivering high-quality video for our social media channels. 

The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of the audiences of The Times and The Sunday Times and will have proven experience in editing video content for a variety of social platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok. 

You will need to be able to engage our social audiences with thoughtful and imaginative treatments of our daily news video and original films. 

The role will involve working with the video team and the social media team to create shareable assets from video which appears in the online editions of The Times and The Sunday Times as well as taking an active role in seeking out and engaging with communities online who may be interested in these stories.

Key skills and responsibilities

  •  Professional evidence of editing social video, ideally for media
  • Build strong relationships and work comfortably with the video and social team
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro; a good understanding of Adobe After Effects is also desirable
  • NCTJ or equivalent qualification and excellent writing skills
  • Able to edit pacy, visual, interesting social video, sometimes under great time pressure, ensuring that all information is accurate and in house style
  • Able to engage with relevant social communities to help drive awareness of our video content
  • Experience managing social media channels, particularly YouTube
  • Have a positive, flexible attitude to your work
  • The job will form part of a seven-day rota, with some weekend work required
