JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Reuters is looking for a scoop-hungry Technology Correspondent to follow the money and characters in Silicon Valley funding the technology that will change our future.

The successful candidate will break news in an industry that is trying to change everything from the workings of the internet to the way we power the globe, uncovering which technologies and startups are the top players in venture capital funding and how that will shape the path forward for consumers and incumbent tech giants.
 
Reuters is a global company and covers the technology story from around the world. The job will require being a team player and working with colleagues in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as in different cities and countries on big stories with broad impact.

About the Role

As our Technology Correspondent, you will: 

  • Develop a wide range of sources in the venture capital, startup and tech financing communities
  • Break exclusive news that rivals must follow
  • Lead and/or reinforce coverage of major news 
  • Report aggressively to identify who will shape the future of the technology industry
  • Write deep, thoughtful feature stories that shed light on Silicon Valley culture and shifts in venture capital trends
  • Demonstrate beat expertise and dominance

About You

As our Technology Correspondent, you will likely have:

  • Strong knowledge of how venture capital works and the technologies it funds
  • Deep sourcing to be able to publish exclusive news that sets the agenda. 
  • Proven skill covering fast-breaking news
  • Proven record of story ideas 
  • Ability to understand and dissect financial disclosures 
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent news judgment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • At least 5 years’ experience reporting or editing at a major news organization
