Digital Travel Reporter (casual shifts)
The Team: The Sun Online is the biggest mobile news brand in the UK - and still growing! - talented team who publish the best coverage of news, sport, TV and showbiz, lifestyle and family value.
Your Role: Are you a digital reporter looking to break into Travel? Sun Online is looking for a digital journalist to work on the Travel Desk for ongoing shifts, covering 5 days a week. You will cover everything from breaking news and features to SEO content and exclusives. No travel experience is necessary but online journalism is a must.
Day to day you will:

Come up with story ideas for the Sun Online Travel section

Write a range of travel articles, from exclusive features to breaking news

Keep readers up to date on the ever-changing travel rules for British holidaymakers
What we’re looking for from you:

Proven ability to cover news stories and write engaging features online.

Knowledge of the travel industry is desirable but not essential
-
Excellent writing skills with the ability to deliver vibrant and clean copy to very tight deadlines

Have a strong contact book and understand the Sun Online audience
-
Ability to write brilliant headlines in the famous Sun style and produce sparkling copy at speed
-
Knowledge of social media, SEO and web publishing
-
Enthusiasm, imagination and a notebook full of ideas are all essential
-
Being a self-starter is key – and you will need to thrive under the pressure of a busy newsroom.

Have a thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations

Willingness to work flexible hours over a seven-day rota pattern.
