Job Description:
Dow Jones is launching a new commerce offering that will live within The Wall Street Journal brand. Powered by our mission to provide the world's most trusted journalism, data and analysis to help people make decisions, this team will be separate from the Journal's newsroom and produce content for our readers on making the best purchasing decisions in their personal and financial lives.
WSJ Commerce is seeking an enterprising Digital Photo Editor to join our launch team. We're The Wall Street Journal's separate affiliate content operation launching on WSJ.com. Prefer NYC-area based as we are a flexible, hybrid work operation based in Rockefeller Center.
Partner with various departments
- Product, Technology, Web Operations
- Editorial, Writers
- Marketing
Photo Editing
- Support editorial team in workflow. Daily duties include photo research, uploading photos into Image Manager, tracking photo budget.
- Proficient in Photoshop.
- Capable of silhouetting and changing background colors and creating image composites based on our creative brief and guidelines.
- Coordinating with the editorial team to set up still-life shoots of consumer goods products.
- Shooting original photography where it makes sense for editorial needs.
- As the commerce team grows, working with building facilities to accommodate the growing team and editorial/product needs.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in digital design and interest in photography
- A positive attitude and an open mind
- Comfortable working in highly matrixed organizations and comfortable creating process from the ground up
- Could be part-time role to start, then transition into full-time role as digital design and editorial workflow increases
