Fighting Misinformation: AFP seeks US factcheck editor

Global news leader AFP is offering an exciting opportunity to be a part of the agency’s fast-growing digital verification network, which has taken a frontline role in combatting misinformation, fact-checking and monitoring emerging narratives that shape public perceptions of news events around the world.

The editor will focus on misinformation in North America and edit fact-checking stories from around the region.

Applicants must have strong digital investigation skills and proven experience in digital verification techniques and tools. Strong editing skills and solid news judgement are a must.

The position will be based in AFP’s Washington DC office. The role requires an ability to work in a fast-paced multimedia newsroom and meet tight deadlines. While the editor will specialise in fact-check editing, they may also be required to assist with other key digital verification tasks, from sourcing breaking news UGC to writing news stories about disinformation.
