Job Description:

This position assists with the programming, design and implementation of workplace solutions for building renovations, restacks or new construction. Solutions include space planning, furniture layouts and move coordination. The Project Designer reports to the Director of Workplace Design and works directly with other members of the Workplace Design Team, the rest of the Global Real Estate & Facilities department, Global Security, NewsTech and People. The position requires an ability to communicate and interact with senior management staff, business unit users, landlord representatives and external vendors to deliver each project on time and on budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide assistance with schematic design, design development, construction documentation, technical specifications and other project related materials as needed.
  • Demonstrate advanced AutoCAD and CAFM knowledge and skill set.
  • Prepare visualization tools for client meetings.
  • Work with Manager in developing project plan, budget and schedule.
  • Attend project meetings with Architect, Engineer and Construction Team.
  • Initiate client meetings to review project expectations.
  • Propose effective design solutions to meet project goals.
  • Analyze design issues and suggest corrective actions.
  • Prepare design layouts and sketches according to company design standards.
  • Develop cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality.
  • Address design and construction related concerns in a timely manner.
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing designs.
  • Research industry trends and design technologies.
  • Provide assistance and conduct trainings to team members when required.
  • Work with design team in prioritizing, planning and executing several projects efficiently.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • BA or BFA in Interior Design.
  • 3-5 years' space planning experience for corporate interiors and/or tenant fitout projects .
  • Working knowledge of office furniture systems, furniture specifications and interior finishes.
  • Strong understanding of construction best practices.
  • Knowledge of building codes and accessibility requirements for planning activities and compliance.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, version 2014 preferred.
  • Strong technical skills using MS Office, MS Powerpoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Google SketchUp or 3D rendering skills are desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, paired with a customer-service mentality.
  • Experience supporting architects and external vendors.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
