Job Description:

The Chief of Staff (COS) to the CEO reports to the Chief Executive Officer, and manages functions essential to his productivity-as well as the productivity of the broader Dow Jones Executive team. This includes serving as a versatile right-hand to manage the CEO's various commitments in addition to executing new initiatives independently. The COS is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the CEO and his executive office, and serves as point person for the CEO on a day-to-day basis. The COS will foster strong relationships with the Executive team who report to the CEO to ensure growth initiatives are implemented successfully. The COS must be aware of activity throughout the business and clearly communicate information and actions from the CEO. The COS will also act as a proxy on behalf of the CEO with various stakeholders to maximize performance and output.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages key priorities of the CEO and serves as the primary point of contact for all executive initiatives.
  • Manages the operating rhythm for the business in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team and finance partners to ensure alignment on strategy and goals.
  • Provides priority management and oversight for the office of the CEO as well as the Program Management Office
  • Demonstrates solid understanding of Dow Jones' core business and strategic plan; regularly promotes the CEO's vision to the broader team to ensure alignment and productivity
  • Responsible for executing on the vision through tight management of strategic projects, high-growth projects that are cross-department and cross-brand.
  • Manages change management programs in collaboration with CEO, CHRO, CCO and Executive Leadership team
  • Assists in facilitating decision-making with the CEO and Executive leadership team; acts as confidant, sounding board, and advisor to offer sound perspective and guidance
  • Instills a sense of teamwork and loyalty within the broader team to inspire and motivate others around growth initiatives; acts as "eyes and ears" to ensure such initiatives are implemented effectively
  • Travels to meetings with the CEO or the CEO's stead, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum ten years of professional experience, preferably in cross-functional areas including operations, strategy or management consulting.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner at a senior level
  • Highly organized with strong attention to details
  • Demonstrates an interest and aptitude in solving problems and challenges by proactively devising solutions
  • Shows versatility and adaptability to handle a highly-variable workload
  • Uses proper discretion and sound judgment; keeps information confidential, as needed
  • Ability to work closely with executive leaders confidently; manages simultaneous activities in a fast-paced business environment
  • Flexible schedule; available for international/domestic travel, occasionally at the last minute
