Job Details

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a high-metabolism news editor for a role at the heart of our newsroom: financial-markets coverage. We are building an ambitious new digital markets offering that will bring markets news, analysis and ideas to readers throughout the day-at the speed and tempo of the ever-changing financial markets.

You will be responsible for commissioning, editing, publishing and wrangling this coverage. No day will be dull: The markets are wild and fun and essential to our readers' understanding of finance and the economy. Markets coverage is core to The Wall Street Journal and is always high visibility. We will deliver fast-paced news and sharp commentary and thoughtful analysis in the moment. We need an editor capable of handling all this.

We're looking for someone with a keen interest in markets and who has experience in markets or in a related field such as economy or finance. The right candidate is also a skilled digital publisher able to navigate the CMS and handle sophisticated charts and market data. You will work hand-in-hand with markets reporters and with the bureau chiefs supervising markets coverage, and will also have a mandate to draw reporting from other parts of the finance team and the wider newsroom. This is also a chance to get in on the ground floor of an exciting new project, so we're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to experiment and adapt. If you've watched the mania of GameStop and crypto and thought, "that is fun" and you've watched the price of lumber and market-derived expectations for inflation and thought, "that is fascinating"-this is the job for you.

You will report to Deputy Finance Editor Colin Barr. While you may start this job remotely, you will be based in our New York office.
