Barron's Group is looking for a News Assistant to support the lead commentary editor. This is a position for an early-career journalist who's looking to grow as an editor. This News Assistant will help maintain smooth operations as the section takes on ambitious new projects. New York is the preferred location, but remote candidates will be considered.

Barron's Group is looking for a News Assistant to support the lead commentary editor. This is a position for an early-career journalist who's looking to grow as an editor. This News Assistant will help maintain smooth operations as the section takes on ambitious new projects. New York is the preferred location, but remote candidates will be considered.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee production of articles in the content management system, including working with the art team and copy editors;
- Review submissions for outside commentary;
- Line-edit and fact-check commentary pieces;
- Research and help recruit new contributors, and work with the office manager to ensure freelancers are paid;
- Conduct Q&As with newsmakers and contribute other short-form writing;
- Help with editorial planning and production for newsletters, podcasts, and other special features as they arise.
Requirements:
- Solid news judgment and a keen interest and awareness of business, finance, policy and geopolitical news.
- Strong research and reporting skills.
- A commitment to journalistic accuracy and fairness.
- At least one year of professional experience as an editor or reporter preferred.
