Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal's Health & Science group is looking for an enterprising editor to help lead our healthcare coverage into the future. You will manage a team of reporters covering public health, research, healthcare disparities, the practice of medicine and the treatment and prevention of disease.

This is an opportunity to define industry-leading coverage at a crucial time, as the healthcare system grapples with the lessons learned from the pandemic. At the same time, scientific advances are taking off in the fields of genetics, artificial intelligence and more, posing new ethical and logistical challenges. But at its heart, this is a human story. In this role, you will unravel complex science, probe misaligned public and private priorities and hold to account the stakeholders making life and death decisions that affect every individual. You will drive daily coverage, and you will lead projects and major coverage story lines, talking through stories with editors and strategizing with reporters. You will work with visual, audio, video and strategy colleagues; help manage our planning; and edit copy.

We're looking for someone who has 3 or more years of experience managing reporters and a proven ability to break news as well as tell compelling narrative stories across platforms.

While you may start the job remotely, you will eventually be based in New York and report to Stefanie Ilgenfritz, the health & science coverage chief.
