Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a senior video engineer with strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills to work on our global video and audio team. You will work collaboratively with video and audio staff to facilitate everyday coverage and production needs.

We're looking for someone with a professional background in multi-format production and who demonstrates strong operational expertise in a digital control room and production environment. The position requires a knowledge of cloud-based workflows including Adobe Creative Cloud editing, AWS and EditShare media asset management. It's key that you stay up-to-date with technology and resources.

Because this is a global news operation, you must have organizational and interpersonal skills to balance a variety of production needs across offices in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States.

You will start this job remotely but eventually be based in our New York office. You will report to the Senior Director of Multi-Format Production.

You Will:
  • Handle on-site technical management of live video streams
  • Partner with video and audio journalists to provide operational support to all projects
  • Manage multiple projects in various stages of production
  • Complete additional duties as assigned, including facilitating breaking news and special events coverage
  • Be able to work late hours and weekends both as part of a regular weekend rotation and as news developments may warrant

You Have:
  • At least five years' experience serving as an engineer in a daily news environment, preferably at a top-tier news organization
  • Professional-level understanding of Avid Pro-tools
  • Experience producing results under tight deadline constraints
  • To apply, please submit a cover letter clearly outlining how your skills and experience meet or exceed the requirements.
