The Media Law & First Amendment intern will join Dow Jones's legal department in its New York City offices for ten weeks in the summer of 2021.

The intern will work primarily with Dow Jones's litigation and press attorneys, focusing on matters affecting publication, access to information, newsgathering, and domestic and international free speech laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Research
  • Drafting memoranda
  • Helping to resolve the day-to-day issues that arise in publishing The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Newswires, Barron's, and other publications
  • The intern may also be exposed to matters involving business transactions, labor and employment law, patents, and trademarks


Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be either first or second-year law students (with preference given to first-years) and have a demonstrated interest in and commitment to media law
  • Intellectually curious, willing to express thoughts freely
  • Superb interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills
  • Able to prioritize, manage, and execute tasks, while adhering to critical project timelines in a very fast-paced environment
